Race Kred Review/Giveaway

racekredlogo

What better way to celebrate my 3 year Runniversary than to have a giveaway?!

Whether it’s a 5k or an ultra-marathon, when you’ve trained hard for a race and completed it, you want to tell people about it! What better way to do that than to wear it on the shoes that got you across the finish line?

Lane from Race-Kred contacted me and offered to send me a 26.2 charm of my own and then graciously offered to give another one away (winner’s choice) to one lucky Slow is the New Fast reader!  I thought the packaging was smart and allowed you to be able to see right away how your charm will look on your shoes. I found it simple to put on and I think the silver color works great with any color shoes.

Here are a few frequently asked questions from the Race-Kred site:

Q. How big is the Race-Kred shoe swag? Will it feel heavy on my shoe?

Answer: Race-Kred is very small. It weighs 5.5 grams (about the same as 2 dimes) and is 20mm wide and 17mm tall. You won’t be able to feel the bead on your shoe. As you can see from this picture, they are small enough to fit multiple Race-Kreds on one shoe.

Q. What is Race-Kred made of?

Answer: Race-Kred is made of 100% Zinc Alloy and it is nickel free. It is finished with antique silver plating.

Q. Can I order custom Race-Kred shoe swag for a specific race?

Answer: Custom beads can be ordered with a specific race logo engraved (space permitting). Minimum order quantity is 250. Bulk pricing discounts are also available starting with quantities of 250. Please contact us at info@race-kred.com for more details.

Q. Do you wholesale Race-Kred?

Answer:  Yes.  Race-Kred is sold in several running, triathlon and wellness stores.  Please contact us for more information if you are interested in carrying Race-Kred in your stores.  Info@race-kred.com.

Q. I don’t see a Race-Kred for my event? (i.e. 3-day walk, 150 Miles, etc)

Answer: Please let us know what other Race-Kred you would like to see available on our site. We are certainly open to adding to our product line. Please contact us at info@race-kred.com.

Sof Sole Review

Socks. Before I became a runner, no brand came to mind when you mentioned that word. I had some pairs of socks that were so old, they had holes in the heels and toes and I really didn’t care. I had thin pairs, thick pairs and lots of pairs that had lost their mates long ago and were matched up with another unfortunate, mateless sock.  When I first began running, I tried wearing those same ones and realized right away that there were two things my feet needed: new shoes and good socks.

So, the search began to find comfy socks that would also keep my feet dry. Since then, I’ve accumulated quite the abundance of running socks. Some worked for me and some….not so much. That being said, the ones that I do like, I wear  A LOT (even on non-running days) and I’m not easy on them.  I was so excited when a representative from Sof Sole contacted me and offered to send me some of their Coolmax Runner Socks and Airr Insoles to try out.

I actually tried the socks out on the first day during a training run and loved them! The first thing I noticed was that they were very soft! They felt snug and fit my foot well and had a little cushion to them but not too much. There was no uncomfortable sewn in parts that rubbed my toes and they kept my feet dry. I have worn them tons since I got them and of course, that means I’ve washed them a lot too and they’ve held up great! I have to say that my other favorite running socks have taken a back seat to these!

Here’s what Sof Sole‘s website says about their Coolmax Runner Socks:

Coolmax®Runner

Key Features:

  • Deep heel pocket minimizes movement and friction
  • Banded instep for secure fit and arch comfort
  • Nonbinding top provides comfort
  • Half cushion sole for protection

They are available in  sizes XS (5-7), Small (7-9) and Medium (9-10.5). If you’re like me and wear a larger shoe size, they’ve got you covered! When I emailed her and told her that I wear a 12 in running shoes, she said that she could send me a men’s size 10 and they’d be exactly the same. The Coolmax Runner socks are available in white and are low cut. You can get a 3 pack for $9.99. I hope you try them and enjoy them as much as I have! Click here to view their complete line of socks.

The next item I was eager to try out was their Airr Insoles.

I’ve never used insoles that you can buy separately and put in your shoes, so I was curious to see how they would work and feel. I put them in a pair of my Nike LunarFly running shoes to test them out. I ran on the treadmill with them, wore them out and about for errands and even raced in them on Halloween night. I could definitely feel a difference in the support and overall comfort. I’m even thinking about switching them out and putting them into my Pegasus 28s and trying them on a long run.

Here’s what the Sof Sole website says about them:

Airr® Insole

The Sof Sole® Airr® Insole is the first insole to combine an air cushioning system with moisture control technology. The Airr features an encapsulated air chamber for enhanced cushioning and a Coolmax® top cover to keep your foot dry and cool. Simply put, the Sof Sole Airr is the best performance insole available.

The Sof Sole® Airr® utilizes the most cutting-edge technologies in order to:

  • Ease the stress on joints during high-impact exercises
  • Manage moisture and ensure breathability and comfort
  • Provide shock absorption and support for even the most strenuous activities

If you’re looking for better shock absorption, comfort and breathability, I’d definitely give them a try. They are priced at $24.99 and you can find them at Finish Line, Sports Authority, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Famous Footwear and Olympia. They also have many other types of insoles available. You can click here to browse through them all.

I want to thank Sof Sole again for providing me with these great items to try out! Would you like to win some Sof Sole products? Click here for details!

Go Sport ID Review

If you ask most runners what their most important piece of equipment is, they’d probably say their shoes or their watch. Those are definitely important to me too but I firmly believe that something that might help ensure our safety is something we should never take for granted.

I was so excited when Justin and Kase from Go Sport ID gave me a chance to pick out and personalize my very own! I chose the ID style Inspire because I thought it looked stylish and would be roomy enough for my information.

As a lot of you know already, when I run, I’m usually alone and a lot of times I may not finish my run until it starts to get dark, especially if it’s a long run and it’s during the winter months. When I go, I make sure I’m wearing bright colors, have my phone, mace and that I’m wearing my Go Sport ID. Now, I’m not saying that wearing this will keep me from falling down, getting mugged or injured but I am saying that it can help someone get in touch with my husband a lot faster instead of looking through my phone – assuming that it would be still working or still in my possession.

Another thing that I absolutely love about about the Go Sport ID band is that you can put your very own mantra on there. Whatever it is that you repeat to yourself to get you through that tough run or push you to the limit and set a PR – that’s what you can put on your stainless steel plate underneath your name. I can’t tell you  how many times I’ve glanced down and looked at mine – just to remind myself that I can do it!

Peace of mind

Motivation!

Along with the customizable plates, you can pick the color band you’d like to have or if you can’t decide on a color, you can order all 8 colors in a bundle pack (which is what I did).

Here are a few pictures of me wearing my Go Sport ID at different races. Love being able to match them with my outfits!

Sporting my green band on my Go Sport ID at a St.Patrick’s Day race.

Wearing my orange band for my first marathon. Don’t mind the gear overload on my waist -ha!

Getting ready to run the Crescent City Classic and wearing my purple Go Sport ID band.

I love having the rainbow of colors to choose from!

Go Sport ID has a variety of styles to choose from to help you be safe, alert others to any medical issues, allergies, emergency contact info and also relay an inspiring message to yourself.

If you like the idea of safety, motivation and style all rolled up in one, then you can win one here!

If you just can’t wait and want one now, click here and order a Go Sport ID and get free shipping!

Don’t forget to connect with Go Sport ID via their Facebook and Twitter pages too!
