My 2nd Blogiversary and Allied Medal Hanger Giveaway!

It’s hard to believe that it’s already been 2 years since I first began this blog! There has been so many exciting things that have happened since that day that I opened up this page and began typing.

Here are a few things that have happened in my running life since I became a blogger 2 years ago:

  • I had the opportunity to meet and run with Born to Run author Chris McDougall, his running coach Eric Orton and Ultra runner Scott Jurek.
  • I ran my 1st (then 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th) half marathon.
  • I ran my 1st marathon last year and my 2nd last month.
  • I dealt with IT Band Syndrome and Plantar Fasciitis
  • I lost 76 pounds!
  • I broke my left arm while out on a training run at night and had to have surgery to have steel plate/screws placed in my arm.
  • I was featured in a video series by Fitbie/MSN called Everyday Champions
  • I was in the Jan/Feb 2013 issue of Women’s Running Magazine in their Women Who Move section.

These are only a few things that have happened to me along this journey in the last couple of years. There have been ups and downs but I am thankful for everything that I’ve gotten to experience. (Except for the broken arm….I could have definitely lived without that, lol!)

What I’m most grateful for is 1.) being a healthier wife and mother 2.) the connections I’ve made through this blog and Facebook page. The running/fitness community is amazing and I have made great friends (online and out running) that I would have never met otherwise. I’m also thankful for all of you that follow my blog! I am constantly inspired and motivated by you!! I absolutely love the stories and pictures you share over on my Facebook page and love how you interact with and encourage each other.

Enough with me and on to the exciting stuff! What’s the point in a celebration without a gift? Allied Medals was kind enough to send me my very own Slow is the New Fast medal hanger and now you can win one of your own!

  1. I love the slow is the new fast one you have!

  2. Lorna Scolaro (Lee Scolaro on FB)

Oh it is so hard to choose. I can only narrow it down to four of them. 😀
“Strength is the product of struggle.”
“Never limit your challenges. Challenge your limits.”
“Think strong, be strong, finish strong.”
    “Believe and Achieve”

    So many fantastic choices.

  3. Beth Bailey

Congrats on 2 years and on being a healthier you! I would choose the “Believe and Achieve” medal hanger, but they are all beautiful,

  4. Sandra

I love the Race Bling holder. Sometimes it is all about the bling! Especially when that bling comes with meeting a long time goal.

  5. I love the Always Earned Never Given & the Believe and Achieve medal hangers.

  6. Reblogged this on Rod's Racers Blog and commented:
Celebrating the success of my Rod’s Racers Sumrall partner and Slow Is The New Fast Founder Gina R. Mooney on her 2nd year Blogiversary. Congrats Gina!

  7. Congrats! We have a growing bling collection going and they are hanging in various places in our bedroom, so this would be a huge blessing! I would have to go with the one without a girl…well, because I’m not a girl, LOL!

  8. Michelle B

I love the pink Runner Girl holder!

  9. Congratulations on your 2 years! I love the City Skyline with the Female runner – reminds me of home 🙂

  10. I would be very tempted to get the Runner with the winged foot. The winged foot was on our track sweatshirts when I went to high school (a long, long time ago!)

  11. OK, I just tried to comment, but I don’t think it posted because it wanted me to log in to WordPress. 🙂
I would probably choose the winged foot display. My high school track team sweatshirt had a winged foot on the front, and it would remind me of that.

  12. Happy 2nd blogiversary! You’ve accomplished so much in only two years! It would be great to have a “Gotta Run Now” hanger because of my blog.

  13. Awesome give away Gina! If I got to choose.. I would like the Runner Girl Bar. Enjoy your day and reflect on your accomplishments, positive self talk is so important! Oh yeah, and wish me luck!

  14. Danielle

Congrats on your Blogiversary! Thanks for being in incredible inspiration!

  15. It would be between the Slow is the New Fast one, or the Heart and Sole one 🙂

  16. Happy Blogiversary! I would love to have the runner girl one or the slow is the new fast, with the girl on it! Wish me luck!

  17. Congratulations on the 2 years! I’d probably get the “Relentless Progress Forward” one.

  18. christy hammond

Happy blogiversary. you have accomplished lots of wonderful things these first 2 years. Here is to many more.

  19. debkhershberger

The Rural Scape, I live in the country and that is perfect, (just needs an Amish horse and buggy) thanks so much for the chance to win!

  20. Laurel C

My favorite is the Believe and Achieve medal hanger!

  21. Judi

I love my Allied Medal display! I had a custom one done a couple of years ago, but it is all filled up!! This time around, I’d do “Always Earned, Never Given” one.

  22. Alice G

Congratulations! I am very thankful for you and your blog (sometimes I think I could do it :)). Slow is the New Fast would be a perfect medal hanger! I compete with no one but myself and have many conversations about the fact that I had the courage to start and finish, no matter my time!

  23. L Harms

I like Always Earned Never Given.

  24. I can’t decide between “Rock Star” and “Strong is the new beautiful.”

  25. I like “Believe” or possibly “Slow is the New Fast”…love them both!

  26. I’d love “Believe” or “Slow is the New Fast”

  27. I love either the pink runner girl or your Slow is the New Fast — both are too cute

  28. I would definitely choose your Slow is the New Fast one – it is the perfect inspiration for me!

  29. Tracey Kryskowiak

I’m torn between your Slow is the New Fast and the Large Pink Taira!

  30. I’d choose between SItNF or one of the Marathon Maniac ones.

  31. Rachel Mano'o

I love the exact design you have – slow is the new fast with the runner girl. I have 6 medals so far and i have them hanging around a lamp shade lol I bought the Slow is the new fast shamrock tee which i wore at my first half marathon. Would love to win this!

  32. Diane

    I love your design!

  33. I actually like the Slow is the New Fast but I’d get a male runner on it as a gift to my husband who has just started racing.

  34. I absolutely love Slow is the New Fast design! It has become my mantra for my 6 half-marathons since taking up running almost 4 years ago! Thanks for all the inspiration, Gina!

  35. Since I’m a slow runner, there’s no other right one for me except the Slow is the New Fast design. So that’s the one I’d pick. I hope I win!!

  36. I really love the Runner Girl one in pink! Very cute!

  37. I would want to get a custom one Running on Candy

  38. I would choose the sign “Relentless Forward Progress” because no matter what the outcome, as long as you’re shooting for the stars and pushing forward, you’re a winner no matter what!

  39. Congrats on 2 years. I would chose the Fear no Distance

  40. Bonnie

I have been coveting the “I Run This Town” hanger for months while all my medals sit in a sad heap on my office desk. If I win, I will hang them up loud and proud!

  41. I like the pink Runner Girl or probably would MOST love a custom one with my blog name – congrats on your blogaversary!

  42. I really like the Runner Girl display.

  43. Terresa Adams

I love the Half Marathon but Slow is the new Fast fits me too! Penguin Power would be a good custom make. A John Bingham reference.

  44. vtimber

I really like the Runner female display.

  45. Jodi Campbell

Must. Have. !!!! Love the hanger. So happy to have found your blog.

  46. Jennifer ray

I want slow is the new fast with the runner girl! Love it!!!

  47. It would be a tossup between the strong one or Always earned never given one

  48. lequisha hines

I like the one with the girl on it

  49. Happy Blogiversary!!! I would get the “always earned, never given”. I love it.

  50. chermoni

What an awesome giveaway! I hope I win!

  51. I like the My Race Baling with stars

  52. Love these medal hangers! I love the one that says “Always earned, never given!”

  53. I’d love to have one of these with my blog name on it 🙂 happy blogaversary!!!

  54. Nichole

What an awesome giveaway! I absolutely love the “Give a girl the right pair of shoes and she can conquer the world” hanger! My medal collection is growing and it’s time to have a proper place to display them!

  55. Congrats on 2 years! If I won, I would get “Give a girl the right pair of shoes and she can conquer the world”

  56. I just got my medal holder in the mail yesterday. I will be giving one away on my blog soon. Good luck to all of your readers! Great giveaway!

  57. Dawn B

I really love the SITNF hanger. I also would get the challenge your limits.

  58. Stacy Jones

I like yours and the one that says, “Give a girl the right pair of shoes and she can conquer the world.” Would be a tough decision!

  59. Jackie

I think I would have to pick one that has the 50 states on it.

  60. Looks great! I’d love one!

  61. Debbie DeMars

I think I would choose “My Race Bling”. Thanks for having the giveaway!

  62. Congrats on all you have done in two years! I have always wanted one of these, but never got around to getting myself one. If I don’t win, I might just do it anyway.

  63. I think I would want “Runner Girl” or “Marathon”. I will be running marathons 8 and 9 this spring and probably need a special one for marathons. OR I would love to do a custom one that said “Mom to Marathon.”

  64. Kerry Roman

I would like to customize mine: “13.1 is a Marathon if you are under 5″ tall!”

  65. I would love the bling junkee!!

  66. Give a girl the right pair of shoes and she can conquer the world!

  67. I love all of the allied medal hangers! Run this town is great

  68. I love the “Always Earned Never Given” one, but I would probably want to get a custom one made…

  69. Laura Gay

    My race bling!

  70. Kasey Potts

Congrats on the blogiversary! I love their displays, and have been wanted one for awhile. I wonder if they’d do a custom “We Run Things” since I’d need to share it with my husband- even though his “bling” collection is smaller!

  71. Congrats on two years.. I just ran my first marathon in January and are dealing with Plantar Faciitis.. Any good tips??

    • Stretching your foot helps. Also, rolling it on a frozen water bottle is very helpful too. I bought shoe inserts and it helped out with mine a great deal although I still have trouble with it from time to time.

  72. Lisa Rike

    I like the cycling one.

  73. Such a tough choice, but probably the one about finishing strong. I have too many mantras to fit on one. Always thought it would be fun to have several (one for each member of our family) with a saying above it that the family that plays together stays together 🙂

  74. AnnaMarie

SO hard to choose just one 🙂 but if I have to….Runner Girl (pink of course ;)) OR Think Strong, Be Strong, Finish Strong – because the mental game is sometimes more than half the battle. 😛

    Congrats on *2* years! 🙂

  75. I would probably choose “Never Limit Your Challenges, Challenge Your Limits”. That’s definitely something I’ve been working to do. It fits so well it’s almost ridiculous! 🙂
Maybe “Give a girl the right pair of shoes and she can conquer the world”, or even a customizable one, if I found the absolute perfect one for me.

  76. Brant

I’d choose a Half Fanatic display!

  77. I crossed the line would be my choice
    Happy Blogversary

  78. “Nothing is Impossible” or any of the motivational ones about not quitting!!
