Anna and I are thinking of making a film of one of her scripts. I’d be playing all the parts. This is a test, to see if there’s anything to this idea. It’s appealing to me on a pretty basically silly level.

Okay, to be fair, there were only two of us in the class and I didn’t even do both of the laps Sport Singlespeed called for. In my defense, it was hot. And I’m not very good at this. At all. But still…

Now, to be clear, the guy on the top step is French and designs his own frames. And nice. It’s easier to get your ass kicked by nice people. That’s why I drive down to Temecula for this stuff. These people are nice.

There’ll be more content, I swear, but for right now I’m just focusing on how to get like this more often:

Here’s The Prairie, number three in the Audubon series. It’s an amazing story. Even more so when you think about what it leaves out. Killed? Blinded? Find out:

On the regular world tip, I think I’ll be doing Racers and Chasers again this weekend. The key for me right now is to find the class with no one else in it. It’s too much to hope for a Spastic Single-Speed Clydesdale Winger class, so I’ll maybe do the kids ride. If no kids show up I’m guaranteed PODIUM!

Sorry to have been so distant. Things got a bit complicated for a while. But now they’re settling down. I know that’s not very “blog” of me, but…

In the meantime, there’s I’ve begun recording chapters of John James Audubon’s Delineations of American Scenery and Character, or Episodes. These were sprinkled through the first three volumes of the Ornithological Biography, which he begain publishing in 8 volumes in 1831. The 60 essays are at once amazing and very, very sad. Even as he was chronicling the New World and it’s creatures, he was waving goodbye. I thought it might be worth a listen:

Well, things being what they are (things) they’re changeable. And they’ve changed.
Instead of the Tour of California, we’re heading to the East my brother to the East.
There’ll be some TOC at the end of the week, but there’s a been a shift in priorities…

Well, it finally happened. Someone gave me a press pass. I’m off to the Tour of California on the 16th of February, following a bunch of very speedy road cyclists as they roar through our defenseless state, finally coming to rest in Pasadena, my back yard.

This is the first of the films I’ll be making throughout.

Gary Hilliard 6 - Running!

It’s been a little over a week since this jaunt.

I followed Gary, Mt. D co-race director Mike Malinin and Mt. D webmaster Fausto Rolan up the Mt. Wilson Trail to the bench, an arduous 11+ mile round-trip. Not sure what I expected - maybe lots of resting, being supportive, etc. What I got was my ass kicked.
